Keeping Our Senior Family Members Safe: Fall Prevention Tips for the Holidays.
Holidays are here, and whether you are traveling to visit family or your senior family members are coming to you, here are a few tips and/or gift ideas for fall prevention in your home or theirs.
One of the simplest ways to improve the safety of our senior’s living space is lighting.
1) For the bedroom, I recommend a simple motion detector light such as these by Mr. Beams. They can be set on the floor next to a nightstand or at the floor at the entrance to a bathroom. You can also affix them to a wall, the have a adhesive backing if wanted. These are simple, battery operated. Set them up and instant safety.
1) Want lights that plug in? I have used these simple Lyrdz Motion Sensor Night Lights for hallways and the top or bottom of landings or stairs.
Lighting up doorways in dark rooms or hallways. I have used these great Motion Sensor Led Light Strip around the door casing to improve safety in the dark for our Seniors. Lots of adjustment for brightness of light and the length of time it will stay on. Great for those guest bathrooms when Great Uncle or Aunt have to get up during the night.
Upgrading the lighting in your home or theirs to LED lighting can really improve safety and overall health. Having brighter lights in the home reduces shadows and improves our visual clarity. Plus the brighter the light when we are awake the better we sleep at night. Click on the link to look at LED light bulbs on AMAZON https://amzn.to/3V2OmqE
